In August of 1985, Jerry Freund, along with his wife, Mary and father, Bill, founded MidAmerican Printing Systems as a print brokerage firm.  With years of experience in print sales, Jerry saw an opportunity to differentiate his organization from other printing companies and in just two years, the newly successful company evolved into a manufacturer of print products, setting the stage for future growth.

In 1993, responding to the needs of the customer, the company expanded into other print-related services, adding graphic design, mail processing and finished goods fulfillment to its offerings.  Today, as a $9 million company with more than 40 employees (and third-generation Freund family members on staff), this family-owned and operated business has become a one-stop print solutions center catering to some of Chicago’s largest institutions, in addition to hundreds of small businesses throughout the region.

Jerry’s vision for MidAmerican is to continually focus on what they do best:  offer customers a quality product, on-time delivery and to always exceed their expectations.  In addition, he and his staff stay educated on the industry’s rapidly changing technology and remain competitive in an increasingly demanding marketplace.

Jerry’s academic background includes a B.S. Degree in Business Management from Quincy College in Illinois.  He is currently a member of the American Marketing Association and resides on the Executive Board of the Chicago Postal Customer Council.

Joel Amettis

For 23 years, Joel has been the backbone of Customer Service at MidAmerican, building the department into what it is today by assisting with estimates, order entry and various customer needs/requests.  He is steadfast in his belief that “the foundation of this department is to give the customer all that they need, and more than they expect to receive.”  His commitment to customer satisfaction and service has been recognized by customers and industry peers alike. 

Joel worked in the campus print shop at McHenry County Community College and also attended Southern Illinois University. 

Joel has more than 27 years experience within the printing industry.

Dan Backhaus

With MidAmerican since 2003, Dan cleans and maintains customers’ mailing data files and sorts them for mailing jobs in accordance with stringent U.S. Postal Service standards.  His expertise extends to the oversight and maintenance of the company’s network, including all servers and workstations.

Dan has a military background and maintained NATO Secret Security Clearance in the U.S. Army.  He studied Communications at Northern Illinois University, in addition to various military schooling experiences.  Dan has worked within the printing industry for the past 7 years.

Art received a degree in Marketing and Management from Loras College in Dubuque, IA.  Art Chiappetta has more than 25 years of industry experience.

Ezra Clark

Ezra joined MidAmerican in 2003 and manages the Digital Operations Center for the entire firm.  He is responsible for preflighting and preparing graphic files that result in the processing and execution of 150 orders per week. 

Ezra has quite a background in the industry, having worked in the prepress departments of various Chicago area printing companies.   According to Ezra, it’s basically the same job, but the technology has changed over the years.  Whereas it used to be darkrooms and film, it’s now done on a computer.  His attention to detail and organizational skills are tremendous assets to the company.

Chuck Dahms

Chuck has been with MidAmerican since 2007.  His responsibilities include the management and oversight of Customer Service, Mailing and Fulfillment, Estimating and all Purchasing functions within the firm.

Chuck has spent significant time working in sales, production control, estimating, purchasing, operations and general management, all of which provided experience, perspective and a sense of best practices that are useful to his role at MidAmerican.  He stresses the importance of being detail oriented and being proactive in finding better and more economical alternatives to satisfy customers' needs in the face of a very challenging economy. 

Chuck has a B.S. in Business from Wake Forest University.  Chuck Dahms has 25 years of printing industry experience.

With MidAmerican since 1992, Pete has served as Art Director, Manager of the Graphics Department and now as the Senior Graphic Designer and Variable Data Specialist.  In this new capacity, Pete combines his creative design skills with his knowledge of one-to-one marketing, helping customers explore the endless possibilities by utilizing the information in their data files in order to maximize the ROI of their marketing mailing projects.

Steve Lee

Steve has been employed at MidAmerican for nearly 4 years, but has a varied background in the printing industry.  He started his career as a letter pressman and typesetter and was motivated to learn every function within the company from shipping to press work.  Working in the mailing department was what he enjoyed most, so he decided to make it his career.

Steve says he’s successful in his position because he’s always learning and stays up-to-date on all aspects of his craft.  His people skills and superior organizational abilities have resulted in accomplishing the impossible.

Mike McConnell

Mike joined the staff at MidAmerican afrer 30 years in the printing industry with Xerox Corporation and Konica Minolta. He is a renowned expert in all facets of digital printing and has worked with numerous high-profile accounts in education, financial services, healthcare and more.

Mike's reputation for 5-star customer service is legendary. He is known for saving his customers thousands of dollars by assisting them with their printed document analysis. At Xerox Corporation, he was a member of the initial Xerox Docutech committee and worked for four years as their In-Plant Managers Director.  

Mike received a B.A. in Marketing from Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

 

Bruce Miller

Bruce joined the MidAmerican sales team in 2001, bringing more than 30 years of related sales experience to the firm.  Growing up in the family printing business, he has worked in every aspect of the field.  His vast experience is valuable to his clientele when discussing their communications objectives and their printing needs.  His goal is to provide incredible customer service and satisfaction while helping his clients accomplish their vision when it comes to their printed communications.

Bruce received his B.S. degree from Rochester Institute of Technology and his MBA from DePaul University.

Suzanne Miloboski

Suzanne joined MidAmerican three years ago as its Chief Financial Officer. In her capacity, she is responsible for all financial aspects of the firm. Suzanne’s duties also include the oversight of information technology, accounting operations and employee benefits administration.

Suzanne has an MBA of Finance from Kennesaw State in Georgia and a B.S. of Accounting from Wayne State University in Michigan. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner, licensed in Illinois and holds several securities and insurance licenses, also in Illinois.

John Pederson

John has been employed by MidAmerican since 1992, presently overseeing Digital Operations, Reprographics, Offset Printing Operations, Bindery, Shipping and the Warehouse.  He is also responsible for the facility itself dealing with outside contractors, coordinating equipment installs and safety issues.

John is a driving force in the planning and routing of incoming jobs, working with the supervisors and operators in the various departments to keep things moving through as quickly and efficiently as possible.

John received an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Arts from Triton College.  He has more than 30 years of service within the printing industry.

With more than 25 years of experience in the printing industry, Peter recently joined the staff at MidAmerican as a National Account Executive to assist the company in their local, regional and national sales efforts.  Peter was previously an Account Executive at ABS Graphics and prior to that Director of Sales for Countryside Graphics.  His years of successfully creating workflow solutions and establishing long-lasting business relationships are a great asset to the MidAmerican team.

Peter's years of experience in digital printing, web-to-print, direct mail, fulfillment programs and offset printing have been pivotal in implementing creative solutions for his client's print needs. 

 

Joe Valdez

Joe has been with MidAmerican since 1995 and manages all workflow within the High-Speed Digital Printing Center.  He has more than 12 years of related industry experience, including a tenure with Eastman Kodak. Joe is knowledgeable about high-speed copying technology including operational expertise on the Xerox iGen.

Joe has more than 24 years of experience within the printing industry.
