In August of 1985, Jerry Freund, along with his wife, Mary and father, Bill, founded MidAmerican Printing Systems as a print brokerage firm. With years of experience in print sales, Jerry saw an opportunity to differentiate his organization from other printing companies and in just two years, the newly successful company evolved into a manufacturer of print products, setting the stage for future growth.
In 1993, responding to the needs of the customer, the company expanded into other print-related services, adding graphic design, mail processing and finished goods fulfillment to its offerings. Today, as a $9 million company with more than 40 employees (and third-generation Freund family members on staff), this family-owned and operated business has become a one-stop print solutions center catering to some of Chicago’s largest institutions, in addition to hundreds of small businesses throughout the region.
Jerry’s vision for MidAmerican is to continually focus on what they do best: offer customers a quality product, on-time delivery and to always exceed their expectations. In addition, he and his staff stay educated on the industry’s rapidly changing technology and remain competitive in an increasingly demanding marketplace.
Jerry’s academic background includes a B.S. Degree in Business Management from Quincy College in Illinois. He is currently a member of the American Marketing Association and resides on the Executive Board of the Chicago Postal Customer Council.
For more than 23 years, Joel has been the backbone of Customer Service at MidAmerican, building the department into what it is today by assisting with estimates, order entry and various customer needs/requests. He is steadfast in his belief that “the foundation of this department is to give the customer all that they need, and more than they expect to receive.” His commitment to customer satisfaction and service has been recognized by customers and industry peers alike.
Joel worked in the campus print shop at McHenry County Community College and also attended Southern Illinois University.
Joel has more than 27 years experience within the printing industry.

Art has been with MidAmerican for 12 years and thoroughly enjoys the interaction with people and providing strong customer service for his clients. He manages his accounts by strong attention to detail with a high service mentality, ensuring that his client’s jobs are delivered on time and on budget.
Art received a degree in Marketing and Management from Loras College in Dubuque, IA. Art Chiappetta has more than 25 years of industry experience.
Bruce joined the MidAmerican sales team in 2001, bringing more than 30 years of related sales experience to the firm. Growing up in the family printing business, he has worked in every aspect of the field. His vast experience is valuable to his clientele when discussing their communications objectives and their printing needs. His goal is to provide incredible customer service and satisfaction while helping his clients accomplish their vision when it comes to their printed communications.
Bruce received his B.S. degree from Rochester Institute of Technology and his MBA from DePaul University.
Bruce Miller's resume includes 40 years of printing industry experience.
Chuck has been with MidAmerican since 2007. His responsibilities include the management and oversight of Customer Service, Mailing and Fulfillment, Estimating and all Purchasing functions within the firm.
Chuck has spent significant time working in sales, production control, estimating, purchasing, operations and general management, all of which provided experience, perspective and a sense of best practices that are useful to his role at MidAmerican. He stresses the importance of being detail oriented and being proactive in finding better and more economical alternatives to satisfy customers' needs in the face of a very challenging economy.
Chuck has a B.S. in Business from Wake Forest University. Chuck Dahms has 25 years of printing industry experience.
Ezra joined MidAmerican in 2003 and manages the Digital Operations Center for the entire firm. He is responsible for preflighting and preparing graphic files that result in the processing and execution of 150 orders per week.
Ezra has quite a background in the industry, having worked in the prepress departments of various Chicago area printing companies. According to Ezra, "it’s basically the same job, but the technology has changed over the years. Whereas it used to be darkrooms and film, it’s now done on a computer." His attention to detail and organizational skills are tremendous assets to the company.
Ezra Clark has 21 years of printing industry experience.
John has been employed by MidAmerican since 1992, presently overseeing Digital Operations, Reprographics, Offset Printing Operations, Bindery, Shipping and the Warehouse. He is also responsible for the facility itself dealing with outside contractors, coordinating equipment installs and safety issues.
John is a driving force in the planning and routing of incoming jobs by working with the supervisors and operators in the various departments to keep things moving through as quickly and efficiently as possible.
John received an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Arts from Triton College. He has more than 30 years of service within the printing industry.
